Hand-pinched English porcelain dessert plate with painted butterfly and flower.
Each plate is hand-cut, pinched, and shaped like a sculptural piece. Once formed, it is slowly dried to prevent warping, then carefully sponged to refine the form. When fully dry, the plate is bisque fired in the kiln for 24 hours at 1800°F.
After cooling, the piece is gently hand-sanded and given a sponge bath. The artwork is approached in a painterly manner, with careful mark-making that balances the playful intention behind each one-of-a-kind creation.
The base is hand-signed, then the piece is glazed and glaze-fired for another 24 hours at 2300°F. A third firing follows the application of the 22k gold bijoux detail.
From start to finish, each plate takes approximately one month to create.
Hand-washing is recommended to preserve your future heirloom.
